omg i loved this episode, sad wen i thought bonnie had died but why has elena took the dagger out it it because he can kill klaus and let every live if she makes another deal, cant wait for the next one

what does “take a beat” mean? Sheriff Forbes uses it at 7’28”: “I just need to take a beat and figure out what to do” Does it have sth. to do with “to beat it”, meaning go away?
